Many would agree that these words all accurately describe Amazon FBA fees.
Amazon’s recently introduced “Low Inventory Fee” is a great example, and an example that one might also accurately describe as “unfriendly” because it forces sellers to manage their inventory, not according to the seller’s best interest, but according to Amazon’s best interest as a fulfillment provider, and that on the pain of what amounts to a penalty for maintaining FBA inventory levels that are less than optimum for Amazon.
What’s worse is that the fee is convoluted enough that lengthy explanations and FBA specific inventory management strategies are required to both understand and navigate the new fee. (see: Low Inventory Fee Explained: Mastering Amazon’s New Fee).
Sellers might reasonably conclude that dealing with FBA’s confusing fees and byzantine power imbalance are no longer worth offering near instant delivery times through the FBA program (especially now that Amazon requires sellers to both navigate and pay a new FBA inbound service policy and fee – yet another complex Amazon FBA policy and fee structure).
Other sellers might conclude that lower levels of FBA involvement are still worth the hassle, so long as they are carefully managed and supported with a healthy FBM (Fulfillment by Merchant) operation.
Mission Fulfillment Plus can help with both approaches – and our straightforward, clear storage pricing makes it easy to plan and manage stock levels in a way that makes sense for both you and Mission Fulfillment Plus.
In addition to straight ecommerce fulfillment (FBM, along with any other channel you are selling on, because we are an omnichannel 3PL), we also offer FBA prep services – and we can combine both for a smooth hybrid strategy: Our order management system allows us to ship your direct to consumer FBM orders while you maintain an FBA presence for the same products. We can also hold your stock and provide FBA prep from that stock as directed by you, thereby allowing you more direct control over your FBA inventory levels.
Whether you only require FBA Prep services, or FBM services, a combination of both, or a complete omnichannel service, Mission Fulfillment Plus is here to provide what you need with a clear, direct, and tailored pricing structure.

One response to “Convoluted, Confusing, Byzantine…”
[…] Back in March of this year, Amazon added inbound “Placement Fees” to its FBA program. Placement fees are charges for shipping inventory to Amazon fulfillment centers. Amazon also introduced a “Low Inventory Fee” that forces sellers to manage their FBA inventory levels according to Amazon’s best interest as a fulfillment provider. We touched on both of those fees here. […]
